Bio
Dr Giséle Lavita holds a PhD in Property Law and is a legal expert specialising in the regulation of short-term rentals. She previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, where she was responsible for teaching the Law of Property to over 400 students. Her doctoral research specifically addressed short-term rental regulations in South Africa, proposing sustainable legal frameworks that balance housing, tourism, and urban governance considerations. She regularly engages with academic, policy, and industry audiences on the evolving STR landscape and is committed to finding equitable solutions to STR operations.
