The Scale Rentals Show Returns for 2023

Whilst talk of a recession has dominated our news feeds for the past 10 months. So far, it doesn’t seem to have disrupted global travel and vacation plans in the short-term.

The travel industry remained cautiously optimistic through quarters three and four, 2022, as bookings continued on a steady increase.

According to AirDNA, in 2022 the US market saw the highest-ever growth rate in demand and at a recent Skift conference in New York, they predicted a 10% growth for the STR industry in 2023.

What’s more, 2023 sees more property managers looking to ‘professionalize’ their  STR inventory, so the experience for consumers is closer to that of a hotel.

And yet, as demand continues to grow, supply is down.

With this in mind, it’s no surprise that in the last 12 months, the global short-term rentals industry has seen a flurry of real estate and crypto investors jumping over to short-term rental, vacation rental, or Airbnb investment – call it what you will.

Also stepping up to meet increased demands are seasoned property managers who have been scaling up their portfolios and diversifying their product.

As new adopters and seasoned property managers and investors look to scale their business, the need to do so intelligently, profitably and sustainably is ever more important.

The Scale Rentals Show 2023

The second edition of the Scale Rentals Show aims to deliver content and solutions for precisely this situation.

Brought to you by the directors of The Book Direct Show and The Short Stay Week, Damian Sheridan and Gianpaolo Vairo, the Scale Rentals Show is the premium educational and networking event for those VIP property management companies that drive our industry forward.

In fact, it’s the ONLY global industry conference where attendees are exclusively property managers managing 25+ short-term rental properties with ambitions of scaling up, diversifying or who are investigating merger or exit strategies, and looking to connect and learn from peers.

This year’s event returns to the World Trade Centre in Barcelona; one of Europe’s most innovative and business-friendly cities.

Day One (17th May): Content focused on short-term rental businesses with 25+ units.

Day Two (18th May): Content focused on short-term rental businesses with 50+ units.

Co-organiser, Gianpaolo Vairo thinks of the Scale Rentals Show as an experiment.

“The feedback received from last year’s event tells us that our experiment with Scale Rentals was successful. Why are we talking about an experiment?
“Scale Rentals was created out of a desire to try new formats that would elevate professionalism within our industry. I have no doubt that the birth of Scale Rentals has certainly revolutionised the scope of Vacation Rental industry events.”
The show forms part of the Short Stay Week.  Five days of ground-breaking, collaborative meetings, workshops and conferences dedicated to the short-term rentals industry.

Attendee-driven content

One of the unique features of The Scale Rentals Show is that the content is attendee-driven. As an attendee, you get to choose the themes and takeaways that are relevant and compelling for your scale-up strategy.

Last year’s event, focused on key subjects, from growing your inventory and technology; to franchising in the STR industry and the importance of sustainability for vacation rentals.

This year’s event will cover themes including property acquisition, profitability, owner relationships, environmental impact, exit strategies and more. The focus is on our common goals and obstacles faced in 2023 and beyond.

Breakout Rooms & Networking Opportunities

Attendees during one of the networking moment

Brand new on the agenda for 2023 will be breakout rooms where concurrent talks will be taking place around Innovation and Technology over the two days, and a special breakout room will see STR podcasters from around the world streaming live from the event.

Last year’s attendees gave the event five star reviews for the VIP networking opportunities, and attendees to 2023 can expect the same level of dedicated networking time.

This is a show for industry leaders and professional property managers, so expect to meet and converse with the best in the business.

There will be focus sessions held over the two days, where property managers will share their real-life experiences in the STR industry, and discussions will be held to debate common goals and strategies.

For this year’s event, attendees can expect more space for confrontation and to create profitable business relationships and successful partnerships.

The winning formula that sealed the success of the 2022 event was centered around the unique environment, says co-organiser Damian Sheridan.

“After the success of our 2022 show we knew we had a winning formula: a unique environment for professional STR property managers to learn from the best and network with hungry, like-minded operators.
“The 2023 Scale Rentals Show will host several hundred of the leading short-term rental property management companies from around the world. Alongside this, we’ve created the ground-breaking Short Stay Week – a pick and mix of unmissable in-person conferences and events over 5 days to serve owners, hosts and management companies.
“We’re excited by the significant challenge we’ve set ourselves and will continue to strive to match the serious growth ambitions of our show attendees.”
